MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong said, while the prime minister was sincere in bringing good tidings to the Chinese community, there were still some quarters who were reluctant to accept the goodwill and resorted to creating all types of insensible acts "to hamper the entire event" from proceeding smoothly.
"The actions by DAP’s entourage of present and past municipal councillors has tarnished the image of the opposition as the ruling coalition in Selangor.
"It should be pointed out that the DAP had never delivered on their promises pertaining to Chinese education.
"When they cannot debunk the fact that BN has delivered on our promises on Chinese education, DAP became unhappy and deemed BN’s contributions as a threat.
"This could be one of the reasons why they tried to cause unease at the ceremony," Wee (right) said in a statement issued today.
Wee was perplexed over DAP's unhappiness to the extent the members wore green attire and attended the event to cause disruption in a high profile manner when the prime minister was bringing good news to the Chinese community by granting 2.9 acres of land to construct a Chinese primary school in Sungai Long.
The deputy education minister said the only explanation for such behaviour was that the DAP intended to churn publicity by creating issues.
"The Pakatan Rakyat state government in Selangor has never kept to their promises to the constituents, made during the 2008 general election, especially on issues relating to Chinese education," he noted.
What the state government had delivered was nothing more than lip service for almost four years, said Wee, adding that it had never allocated any land to construct Chinese primary schools.
