Chua challenged to release BM, English transcripts
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has challenged MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek to release the Bahasa Malaysia and English transcripts of their recent debate.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has challenged MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek to release the Bahasa Malaysia and English transcripts of their recent debate.
In a statement today, Lim (right) said that should Chua release the transcripts, it will prove that he had lied and made personal attacks during their Feb 18 debate in Mandarin.
“Not only did Chua made personal attacks against me during the historic debate on Feb 18, even his predecessor Ong Tee Keat was not spared.
“Chua knows releasing his own debate transcripts will only expose himself as indulging in baseless personal attacks against me as well as Ong.
“Worse, Chua will be exposed for his divisive tactics and lies against the record of Pakatan Rakyat,” said Lim.
Lim said he had refused to trade insults with Chua (left) because he believed that a debate should be a contest of ideas, ideals and principles.
He added that MCA and some media organisations were now consorting to “whitewash” Chua’s personal attacks and manipulate the outcome of the debate.
“Facts and figures do not lie. Let the debate transcripts speak for themselves,” said Lim.
The Bahasa Malaysia and English transcripts featuring Lim’s speeches during the debate will be made available on his personal website and Facebook later today.
It is understood that MCA headquarters is currently preparing the Bahasa Malaysia version of the transcript.
