MIC Youth strongly condemns the actions of PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan who had questioned Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's attendance at a Thaipusam celebration at Batu Caves on Feb 7.

This clearly shows that Nasrudin is a religious extremist and intolerant of the practices of the multi racial people in Malaysia.

With this statement, Nasrudin is showing the true colours of PAS which does not support the religions of the other races but would not hesitate to beg for their votes to come to power.

MIC Youth feels that multi racial Malaysians should not vote for PAS which does not respect religions other than Islam.

We also want DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat to come out on whether they also support the stand of the PAS Youth chief and PAS.

Najib was honoured from a dais outside the temple premises and thus it cannot be considered a religious function.

It is only people who cannot differentiate between good and bad who would resort to making wild statements to get cheap publicity.

These people should realise that merely attending a function cannot be deemed as a betrayal of one's faith.

MIC Youth is also disappointed with Nasrudin and Perak mufti, Harussani Zakaria, who had expressed his sadness over the Najib's actions, claiming that the prime minister sacrificed his faith by attending the the celebration of Thaipusam at Batu Caves.

The world is progressing and every religion is given respect but it is only in Malaysia, there are leaders who still live behind time and are not progressive.

However MIC Youth is also heartened that there are other Malaysian leaders, both from the BN and the opposition who share the multi-religious and multi-cultural ideology for a stable and united Malaysia.
