The intention voiced by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang not to contest in the 13th general election clearly indicates that there is something wrong in the party, according to Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Dr Awang Adek Hussein.
He said the statement made by the party president in an interview with Sinar Harian was something really extraordinary and was a sign that the party was passing though a severe crisis.
"This (decision) is probably resulting from the conflict in PAS, including from the sacking of former Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Hasan Ali.
"This situation will probably give a major blow to PAS spiritual leader, Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, as he is the one who should be making such a decision after holding the post of Kelantan menteri besar for too long," he said.
Earlier, Awang Adek witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between AFPM Lifestyle Sdn Bhd and Jalinan Prospek (M) Bhd in Kota Bharu today.
