PM scheduled to join FT Day celebration

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is scheduled to join the Federal Territories Day 2012 celebration at the Dataran Merdeka on Saturday, Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said.

He said the programme from 7.30am would also see the participation of civil servants and private sector employees.
“After the celebration, the prime minister will take a walk at the newly completed walkways,” he told Bernama after appearing on Bernama Radio24 ‘Ala-Carte Pagi’ programme at Wisma Bernama in Kuala Lumpur today.
Raja Nong Chik (right) said other programmes include the FT Day festival at the same place on Sunday comprising cultural performances, exhibition and people’s sports.
There will be an investiture ceremony at Istana Melawati, Putrajaya, on Wednesday while in Labuan, the celebration will be held from Feb 11 to 12 with the launch of the People’s Carnival.
There will also be a Wau Festival from Feb 24 to 26 at Precinct 2 lake in Putrajaya which will be closed by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
The FT Day is celebrated annually on Feb 1 and this will be the 38th year.
On the damage to the roof of Seri Cempaka flats in Lembah Pantai following a freak storm yesterday, he said it would need RM500,000 to RM1 million to make necessary repairs.
