Just a week after Prime Minister Najib Razak's new Facebook handle in Mandarin 'Ah Jib Gor' made its cyberspace debut, supporters of his arch-enemy Anwar Ibrahim emulated the idea, setting up a Facebook page with the 'Ah Wah Gor' moniker.

And within 24 hours, 'Ah Wah Gor', which means 'Brother Anwar' in Chinese, has attracted over 15,000 followers, surpassing 'Ah Jib Gor' which only managed 14,400 in one week.

'Ah Wah Gor' followers have been celebrating the enormous response to the site when its figures sped past its opponent's this afternoon.

NONE"Najib feels inferior now", "indeed the charm of Ah Wah Gor is irresistible, breaking the 10,000 number in less than 24 hours, very powerful", and "let's continue to push the number until Ah Jib Gor can never catch up" were some of the messages posted by the followers.

In return, the administrator of the site thanked them for their overwhelming support, taking the opportunity to call on them to help change the regime in the coming general election.

'Ah Jib Gor', which means 'Brother Najib' in Chinese, was created to give Najib another forum to get social media users to know him as a person - as an ordinary member of society and not as just as the premier.

According to Najib's political secretary, Wong Nai Chee, the Facebook listing would touch on Najib's hobbies and other non-political matters, as not all Facebook users were interested in politics.

Wong explained the name, 'Ah Jib Gor', was chosen as it was the  popular nickname for Najib adopted by social media users and the Chinese community even before the Facebook site was created.
