Traffic flow at several locations this evening was reported to be slow, following an increase in the number of motorists heading home for the Chinese New Year celebration on Monday.

A PLUSLine spokesperson, when contacted by Bernama, said vehicles were moving slowly out of the city heading to the south especially from Putra Mahkota to Seremban and Senawang to Pedas, Linggi.

“Traffic was also moving slowly from the south to the north, Skudai to Simpang Renggam and Johor to Kuala Lumpur,” he said today.

Other routes affected included Slim River to Ladang Bikam, Sungai Buloh to Tanjung Malim and also Tapah to Gopeng.

“The reasons for the slow movement were due to the rain and the hilly areas but traffic was still moving,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highway Authority’s website reported slow traffic movement in the north (North-South Expressway) heading from Slim River to Sungkai, and in the south (North-South Expressway), heading from Kulai Jaya to Sedenak and Tangkak to Ayer Keroh.

“Also affected is the Penang bridge heading to Bayan Lepas,” it said.
