PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang will decide today on Hasan Ali’s replacement as the Selangor state exco member in charge of religious affairs.
In an article on PAS party organ Harakah Daily’s website today, party secretary-general Mustafa Ali said the nominee would be forwarded to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim tomorrow.
“Should there be no problems, we expect the exco meeting on Wednesday will have a new member from PAS,” said Mustafa.
The report said the PAS central committee had met last night in Alor Setar and among the topics discussed was on Hasan’s replacement.
Hasan was sacked as a party member by the central committee last Sunday, on grounds that he had acted against the party’s interest. No disciplinary process was held.
He is allowed to appeal the to party’s Syura Council, but Hasan has stated that he was not interested in doing so.
Last Friday, the Selangor sultan had already accepted Hasan's removal from the exco, while Khalid announced that a new exco would be sworn in as early as Wednesday.
The frontrunner for now appears to be Selangor PAS chief and Meru state assemblyperson Dr Abdul Rani Osman.
Rani has stated that he was not keen on the position but will take it up if instructed by the party leadership to do so.
