Hasan Ali will not appeal sacking

Former Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali will not appeal his sacking from the party despite calls from his supporters to do so.

He revealed this last night at a dialogue session on Muslim faith organised by anti-apostasy group Himpun, according to a Sinar Harian report today.

Hasan was quoted as saying that he had no regrets as he felt PAS had betrayed its cause.

"I cannot, my conscious will not allow me to (stay in the party). I do not see why I should remain in the party," he was quoted as saying.

He also accused PAS in Selangor of impeding his efforts to defend the faith of Muslims.

"I cannot do this while in the party because my party comrades and certain parasitic groups do not like the issue of alcohol and apostasy to be championed because they want to win support.

"I am willing to be dropped as exco and forfeit all benefits. Even though I am comfortable in the position, I am abandoning it to save myself, my children, family, and Muslims," he was reported as saying.

Hasan: I'm not alone

Hasan who is exco in charge of Islamic affairs has ruffled feathers in Pakatan Rakyat after he led raids against entertainment outlets in Selangor.

He adds that PAS was opposed to his struggle, especially when the leadership criticised him for supporting the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) during a Church raid.

"I am not alone in this matter, soon, there will be a major movement championing the faith of Muslims in the country."

Hasan crossed swords with party leaders after it was revealed that he failed to obtain sufficient nomination to retain his Gombak Setia state seat.

Despite apologising for his "excessiveness" against party leaders, the party central committee decided to sack him last Sunday for acting against the party's interest.

However, party president Abdul Hadi Awang had stated that Hasan could appeal to the party's Syura Council.
