RPK, is that all you can come up with?
YOURSAY 'I don't see anything wrong in giving legitimate work to Pakatan supporters as long as the bills are market rates and not inflated.'
RPK's 'law firm' claims are libellous, says MBPJ
SatuMalaysiaJudge: This time RPK (Raja Petra Kamarudin) has lost the plot. MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council) is the first local council in the history of Malaysia to introduce an independent audit and good governance committee after the March 2008 general election.
Even the mayor is not allowed to sit in the committee, making it truly independent. This has never happened in BN's 51 years rule.
RPK must realise that good governance can mitigate corruption but cannot wipe it out and he cannot expect miracles - that MBPJ can become as innocent as Virgin Mary in just four years.
The allegations made are lifted off from a previous poison-pen letter spammed by a disgruntled bill-board operator whose corrupt ways of bribing city officials have now been stopped by the new and more transparent MBPJ policy.
Now PJ residents are happy that MBPJ has more income rather than some shady ‘MBPJ Sports Club' that pocketed the billboard income received during BN's days.
RPK's allegations are unsubstantiated, irresponsible, vindictive and malicious at best.
Rick Teo: I don't see anything wrong in giving legitimate work to Pakatan Rakyat supporters as long as the bills are according to market rates and not inflated. Does RPK expect the work to be farmed out to Umno cronies?
Surely Pakatan is entitled to give work to their supporters as long as it is legitimate and above board. Umno is doing worse by giving to its cronies inflated fees and certain jobs are simply just commissions.
Why did RPK did not attack those work given out by Umno? This clearly shows RPK has an agenda to smear Pakatan.
Up2U: When a man lose his credibility and integrity, he loses the respect of others. RPK is such a man today.
He may have sold his soul to the devil and may have valid reason to do so but he should just fade away and maintain whatever dignity he still have. God have mercy on him and his son.
Abasir: This state-sponsored 'fugitive' (from our ‘independent' judicial system) has a well-earned reputation for fiction and story-telling.
He has cried 'wolf' many times and defamed many, including PM Najib Razak's wife. It will only be idiots and hardcore conspiracy theorists who will take seriously the vile nonsense he trots out periodically, just so that he remains in the public eye.
He is nothing but a poor, pathetic slob in need of attention.
Lulu: So it's true that R Sivarasa's firm is on the list? Maybe to make things more transparent and to clarify things, MBPJ should publish a list of their appointed lawyers and how much they have earned in fees in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
As for Derek Fernandez, maybe to clear his good name, he could make a public declaration that he is not engaged by any of the developers with projects under MBPJ.
Then we all can be happy that all is done above board and we truly have honourable representation in MBPJ.
Kgen: What is wrong with Pakatan friends getting some legal work from the state as long as their fees are reasonable?
They have sacrificed a lot of time and energy doing pro bono cases so why begrudge them some business? It is not corruption as RPK alleged but honest work.
RPK must be scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to find something to attack Pakatan. If this is the worst he can come up with, I compliment the Pakatan government for being so clean.
James1067: Anybody could be fed the wrong information, but RPK should have checks the facts first before opening his mouth. I think an apology is in order, if he is sincere.
The timing of the interview in Singapore is also casts suspicion on RPK. Well, let's not forget all the wrongdoings he exposed that have caused a dent in the BN. I cannot read why RPK did what he did, but time will tell whether which side he is on.
We have to agree that if we want change, it must be real change, not any other corrupted regime. Let's just wait before we pass judgement on him as we are minor people in what's going in the political circle. Time will tell.
Anak JB: RPK is trying to throw mud and came out with small ‘ikan bilis' cases that cannot even be substantiated.
Did RPK see the good work of some of MBPJ's efforts? I am a regular at the ex-Kelab Syabas, which has now been refurbished and renamed as PJ Palm Sport Centre.
The investors who pumped in the money to refurbish the Club, told me in private that they won the concession to operate the club based on merit, i.e. best concept and value for money for the rakyat where they were pitted against some major players/developers.
And he said the beautiful thing was everything was above board and professional, and they won the contract without the need to buy any favour.
He said the message from the councillors were straight forward - do a good job and make sure it benefits the people. He also said that if it was under BN, this would not have been possible.
Pakatan is not perfect but at least they are trying and we have a better fighting chance.
And come to think of it, RPK, once upon a time I was your ardent supporter, praying and supporting you, and following you on ceramahs.
It hurts me to see that you are now a turncoat.
