DAP's candidates will contest for only one seat each in the next general election, said its chairman Karpal Singh.

He said the party would adopt the new practice in order to enable a candidate to focus on one constituency if he or she wins the seat.

NONE"No double seats, unlike before where we didn't have enough candidates. Now, we are different; we have so many candidates and we must give the opportunity to others.

"I am serious in this matter, no double seats in DAP," he said at a press conference at his office in Kuala Lumpur today.

However, Karpal (right) said the exception would be for Sabah and Sarawak as DAP did not have enough candidates in the two states.

When asked whether Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) would do the same, he said: "We (DAP) can't interfere with PKR, but I think it should follow our example."

Karpal said he could not push PKR to do the same, but he would raise this at the DAP's central executive committee (CEC) meeting next month.
