Three individuals have pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court, to a charge of vandalising public property by spray-painting graffiti on a wall.

Reporter Sidiqin Omar, 30, graphic artist Mohd Fiqtriey al Halimiey Abdul Rani @ Abdul Ghani, 27 and musician Ahmad Husni Mohd Ali, 28, are charged with committing the offence at 6.10am on Jan 7.

They alleged spray-painted the words ‘TTR 901 Turun Tibai Rosmah’ on a wall in front of the Angkasapuri KTM Komuter station in Pantai Dalam.

The trio are charged under Section 15(2) of the Minor Offences Act read alongside Section 34 of the Penal Code.

If found guilty, they could be jailed for up to a year or fined RM1,000, or both.

They were arrested two days before the proposed 901 Free Anwar rally in support of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was acquitted of a sodomy charge yesterday.

Mention on Feb 8

Magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir set bail at RM2,000 each with one surety. The accused must also report to a police station once a month.

DPP Siti Hajar Ali had applied for bail to be set at RM3,000 each.

Defence lawyer Mohd Radzlan Jalaluddin sought to reduce this to RM500, taking into consideration the maximum sentence for the offence.

He argued that those posting bail are close relatives of the trio and can ensure that they attend the hearing.

The case is set for mention on Feb 8.

The public gallery was filled with the supporters of the trio, including prominent activist Hishamuddin Rais.
