The domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism minister is awaiting an official report from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on alleged making of false claims by a subsidised goods delivery contractor before taking action against those involved.     

The ministry's corporate communication unit head, Samsudin Awang said in a statement today that the ministry viewed the case seriously and would give full cooperation to MACC in their investigation.     

"If the investigation finds that the irregularities involved the ministry's officers, legal action will be taken against them.     

"If the contractor is found to have made the false claims, he will be blacklisted and taken to court," he said.     

Newspapers reported today that the MACC was investigating the case of false claims allegedly made by a contractor delivering subsidised goods to the interior areas of Sarawak.
