If the judge is being manipulated by the government, then he shall live with this sin forever. Not even praying five or 10 times a day will absolve him. He will have to wear this guilt on his shoulders for the rest of his life.

Kgen: Of course, if sanity prevails, Anwar will be acquitted but if there was sanity, he wouldn't even be charged in the first place.

There is no chance that Anwar will be found not guilty no matter how logical the arguments as Umno is not your normal logical party.

It has its own culture of vindictiveness and short-term gain, coupled with an infantile inability to see future or indirect consequences.


Battle-ready DAP heads for the high seas

Clever voter: DAP has enough good people within its leadership ranks to govern, but its grassroots support on its own will not be adequate. The party has to broaden its appeal, build the next generation of leaders capable to govern.

Its connection with business remain so-so. Overall, the party must have less rhetoric but develop a more broad-based appeal.

Sapphire: DAP leaders and its grassroots must show that they are ready for Putrajaya. DAP must stand up as the leader in Pakatan to lead the way to Putrajaya.

Success is around the corner, put in all that you have and show it to Malaysians that DAP is ready. All the best with the convention today.

Yeoh Chee Weng: Yes, the DAP leadership has indeed matured and I am glad that it knows when silence is golden.

As for the maturity of the Malays, there is very little to be said other than that as long as they fear a Chinese or an Indian Malaysian PM, they shall not receive much respect and shall be looked down upon as a phobic and racist ‘ketuanan Melayu'.

Anonymous_4031: DAP has been in the game of politics since 1965 (46 years ago); and has seasoned leaders in Karpal Singh, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Dr Chen Man Hin, Ngeh Koo Ham, Teresa Kok, to name a few.

They have been steadfast in upholding the principles of clean governance, transparency, open tenders, meritocracy, accountability, justice, fairness. These attributes will endear it to the majority of the people.

We want all people, especially the disadvantaged, the discriminated against, the poor to be helped. No right-thinking person, be he Malaysian or otherwise, can quarrel for the basic principles of governance.

Prosper the underprivileged, the downtrodden, the poor, the meek, the weak. That is the way forward for all Malaysians.


Proton-GM talks set to result in 'win-win' situation

Foo: Is Malaysia a "low-cost country" to produce cars? How much does it cost to produce a South Korean car, or for that matter for a Japanese car to be produced in Thailand?

The top of the range VW Passat 2.5 diesel is selling at around RM65,000 in the United States. Can we, for example, buy a Waja at that price?

Oscar Kilo: What's Dr Mahathir Mohamad smoking? Firstly, South Korea, China and Japan are not "low-cost countries compared to America".

Japanese and South Korean carmakers make their cars in the US if the cars are intended for sale there, Similarly, if cars are intended for sale in Southeast Asia, car makers will make their cars in Asia.

It doesn't matter where the car company is from, whether Europe, Asia or America. Malaysia could have been the auto industry hub of Southeast Asia, but no, we passed that opportunity to Thailand all because Dr M wanted to build a ‘national' car industry.

Thailand is probably profusely grateful to Dr M. Global car companies now operate in Thailand.

But, what about Malaysia? As Foo said, a brand new VW Passat, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Nissan Altima are selling at around US$20,000 in the US. Think about it.

Malaysians have been ripped off all these years - all for the sake of protecting Proton. By the way, why prefer GM (General Motors) over VW (Volkswagen), which had earlier also wanted to partner with Proton?

Sapphire: So the Proton plant in Tanjong Malim is a white elephant, that is why you offer the facilities to GM. You might as well sell the entire plant and stop producing Protons, so that we can buy a Passat at a price cheaper than a Waja.
