The annual general meeting (AGM) of the Koperasi Permodalan Felda (KPF) has to be postponed because some information to be tabled at the meeting has yet to be finalised, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Ahmad Maslan said today.

He said the AGM would be held, at the latest, next month.

“The (KPF) AGM cannot be held if the information to be tabled at the meeting is incomplete because members will not be happy with the decisions made and this will tarnish KPF’s image,” he told reporters after a walkabout at the main market and bus station in Kuantan.

He said this in response to a decision by the Kuantan High Court in allowing an application by Felda settlers to stop KPF from holding its annual meeting, which was fixed for last Thursday.

Ahmad also refuted a claim that some Felda settlers had approached him to protest against the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Sdn Bhd (FGVH) on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia.

“They came to see me not to protest against FGVH’s listing, but to get clarification on the benefits they get to enjoy after the listing,” he added.

Ahmad, who is Barisan Nasional (BN) information and publicity bureau chairperson, urged bureau members to be more active in providing information to the people on government issues, including the subsidy on essential goods.

It could be done by distributing leaflets on the matter, he added.
