No scuffles with students at UPSI, say cops
The Perak police have denied that its officers were involved in scuffles with student staging a sit-in at the entrance of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) last night.

“There was no scuffles. We took necessary action to uphold public safety.
“The students did not adhere to police instructions to disperse and we were forced to move in to arrest them.
“They resisted which could have led to the impression that a scuffle took place,” said Perak police chief Mohd Shukri Dahlan, according to Star Online.
He claims that one protestor had crashed into the a glass panel at a nearby clinic during the chaos and injured himself.
"He was given outpatient treatment at the Tanjung Malim Health Clinic.
"Another student is being treated at the Slim River Hospital for minor injuries," he said.
Shukri said that 17 arrests were made.
Police's heavy-handed tactics
Last night, some 60 students were staging the sit in to demand for academic freedom and defend fellow student Adam Adli Abdul Halim, who is under fire for lowering a flag bearing the image of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at the Umno headquarters recently.
Adam Adli was among those arrested at about 2.30am this morning.
The protestors claim that the police used heavy-handed tactics to disperse the boisterous, but peaceful protest.
Shukri added that of the 17 arrested, only two - including Adam Adli - were from UPSI while others were from Universiti Selangor (Unisel), International Islamic University (UIA) and Management and Science University (MSU).
