PAS will ask former party deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa and former Selangor PAS chief Hasan Ali to explain the remarks the two had made recently.

Also called in to explain is Selangor PAS information chief Saari Sungib following his remarks on the possibility of Hasan being dropped as an election candidate.

pas muktamar 130610 tuan ibrahim tuan manParty information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (left) said explanations have to be made so that the party need not waste time, following differing opinions as a result of frustration, small mistakes, excessive egos and not wanting to accept the decision made by the party and jamaah (members).

“Looking at the general election which is fast approaching, PAS would like to stress that the party would not tolerate any sabotage from within and outside the party. PAS is making final preparations for the election.

“All members should play their role to be ‘team players’ to ensure that the jamaah would work well and in harmony.

"All efforts are concentrated for the final push in preparing for the general election, and not towards handling some leaders who have differences in opinion on party policies where the direction has been determined and agreed by the syura council,” said Tuan Ibrahim in a statement.

It is uncertain whether hauling up the three to explain was a result of the PAS political bureau meeting last night.

'PAS is democratic but respects syura council'

The  PAS information chief said the party as a democratic entity makes decisions not based on an individual but collectively by its members.

“When a decision has been made and the syura council approves it, it is in line with Islam. Every PAS member should work towards having the party achieve the objective and to make sure Islam is victorious,” he said.

“Members are reminded that what we have is today, the past has gone while the future is uncertain.

“Hence, we should set aside our differences or revenge, remove the hurt feelings or individual interests. Focus on the future in ensuring the party is victorious,” he said.

Hasan has been lashing out at the party lately, coming out to accuse the party of now dominated by professionals and that it had strayed from its original party struggles for an Islamic state to what is mooted as a ‘welfare state’.

However, Hasan’s outburst was quickly attacked by the party’s Youth and Muslimat wings, along with Tuan Ibrahim and party central committee member Mohd Hanipa Maidin yesterday.

Nasharuddin in an interview with Berita Minggu had also said the party has strayed from Islamic principles for political expediency. However, the former deputy president in a statement yesterday said he remains committed to the Islamist party.

Saari has revealed that Hasan has not received sufficient nominations from local branches for him to defend the Gombak Setia state assembly seat.
