The DAP central executive committee has established a three-member committee to resolve the dispute between chairperson Karpal Singh and its Penang deputy chief P Ramasamy.
Panel members are secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang and life adviser Dr Chen Man Hin.
"We want to resolve this matter speedily," secretary-general Lim Guan Eng told Malaysiakini after the meeting last night.
It is understood that Ramasamy, who is also the party deputy secretary-general, was present at the meeting.
Ramasamy had been engaged in a
war of words
with DAP chairperson Karpal Singh, alluding that the latter was a "godfather" in the party, during the run-up to the annual convention for the Penang chapter of the party last weekend.
Coming to Karpal's defence was Penang DAP committee member RSN Rayer, who accused Ramasamy of acting like a "warlord" and alleging he had "begged" to be appointed Penang deputy chief minister II.
Following this, Rayer, who is also the Seri Delima state assemblyperson, claimed that he received a telephone death threat .
During the convention on Sunday, Ramasamy's supporters held a noisy protest outside the venue to condemn Rayer and Karpal.
Both Karpal and Ramasamy crossed swords again during their respective speeches.
