Anonymous: Is Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin serious in that the cattle project scandal should be left to the people to decide?

Judging from the large number of comments from the people who can think for themselves, they have already said their piece. This is an outright abuse of the taxpayers' money.

There is indeed abuse of power by the government to grant a RM250 million loan to a project undertaken by people who have neither the entrepreneurial or technical skills to do it.

Furthermore, money given for the project has been invested in totally unrelated business. The fact that it is given to the family of a minister will lead one to enquire as to whether all is above board and in order.

The DPM should be reminded that he should be careful when handling other people's money. The National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) owes it to the lenders and ultimately the rakyat to ensure that the money is only used for the business for which it is intended.

They cannot spend the money on some unrelated silly investments.

Anonymous: The DPM has thrown the ball into the court of the rakyat on the NFC case. So Malaysians, let's do just that at the next GE. We must use the most effective vehicle we have to make a clear statement against corruption.

1M for All: Why blame the ‘taker' of the project? Blame the ‘givers' - the agriculture minister (Muhyiddin Yassin) and finance minister (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) at that time.

Once the grant or soft loan is given, it will be up to the wisdom of the board of directors on how they want to use it.

Armageddon: Muhyiddin has been playing politics with Najib Razak, disagreeing with the PM in most of the critical issues, and a good example is the one over whether Malay or Malaysian comes first.

Najib should take advantage of this NFC issue and bury Muhyiddin politically for good. Why is Najib not doing that? Does the PM has as many skeletons in his closet as Muhyiddin's?


MCA's Wong Nai Chee is PM's new Chinese pol-sec

Ferdtan: Is this another Matthias Chang (a controversial former Chinese political secretary of ex-PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad) in the making?

We hope that MCA's Wong Nai Chee is not as 'crazy' as Matthias (branded by many as 'a martyr without a cause' - sent to prison after refusing to pay a fine for contempt of court in a private suit).

And we hope that Wong will not walk the same path as his predecessor - though under different bosses. Matthias, like Wong Nai Chee, was brought on board supposedly to advise the PM on how to win the hearts and minds of the Chinese.

Matthias, instead of doing what he was supposed to do, did just the opposite - he antagonised many Chinese with his actions defending many of his ex-boss's sporadic racialist attacks on the Chinese community.

Wong, learn from the mistakes of Matthias - don't make yourself a target of ridicule by the very community that you wish to befriend.

Onyourtoes: This is typical of tokenism being practised in this country; well, PM, you can forget about transformation.

Basically, you just want to hear what you would like to hear and therefore that message must come from an acceptable person with certain attributes.

What difference does it make whether it is Matthias Chang or Wong Nai Chee? Make no mistake about it - it is not a perception problem, it is a real problem. Those people you appointed cannot and will not be able to convey the real concerns of the people.

In fact, if you are genuine and sincere, you would have known all you need to know without even appointing anyone of them as your political secretary. Just read Malaysiakini, it is sufficient for you to know what you need to know and do what you need to do.

Clever Voter: I don't know Wong personally, but if I were him I would decline working with a boss who has a tainted record and whose future is uncertain.


YBs can jump, so can Malaysiakini

Hmmmmmm: If they play more basketball, there would be fewer heart attacks than what we have seen among the politicians in the last few years.

James Dean: Much as I don't like some YBs (Yang Berhormats), I will give this a event big thumbs-up for unity.

One Brain Cell: Predatory cunning is one of BN's strong points. Their attempts to indirectly pump money into Malaysiakini's coffers by offering to buy newsfeeds for the (temporarily mothballed) Malay Mail, and now this ‘friendly' basketball match, leads me to conclude that this is just a clever strategy to ensure that Malaysiakini journalists would begin to view the younger BN politicians as ‘dribbling buddies' instead of as journalistic prey.

It's inevitable that such publicity stunts will ultimately cost Malaysiakini its ability to whack the younger BN politicos with full force.

Malaysiakini may have whacked BN in the basketball court - but BN won the ultimate victory by getting across the message that they are ‘just regular guys', so why vote them out?

Marvin: We may have different affiliation, but we can still come together and have fun.

Stevencbs: I assume all players from both divide were using the same slippery floor, YB KJ (Khairy Jamaluddin)?

Referee ‘unfair'? Next time bring your own judges lah, they will definitely give all decisions your way.
