Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng said today that the state Pakatan Rakyat leadership would only decide whether to hold state polls simultaneously with federal polls after Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announces the dissolution of Parliament.
 
Lim said the approach towards the matter would be on the basis of consultation between the Penang Pakatan component parties and the opposition coalition’s national leadership.
 
Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, said the decision would focus on whether the state polls would be held together with general elections. What is certain, Lim insisted, is that Penang would not hold snap polls this year
 
Lim said the decision at the state level after consulting Pakatan’s top leadership would not be made in a rushed manner, but would be deliberated so as to avoid being caught by the fluidity of developments.

He said this at a press conference after launching the 16th Selangor DAP state annual convention in Seri Kembangan.
 
Selangor Mentri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had announced Thursday that no state election would be held before June next year.

Should Parliament be dissolved after June next year, Khalid said only then would Selangor likely follow suit.
