In a statement today, Selangor MCA secretary Wong Koon Mun said Hasan's claim that Christians are using solar-powered talking Bibles to influence Muslims was the latest in a series of statements which impacted on Christian-Muslim ties.
He said Hasan had stoked religious tensions on various occasions such as the attempt to curb the sale of alcohol at convenience stores in 2009.
Wong (left) also cites Hasan's participation in the Himpun rally on Oct 22 as another example, because the rally organisers claimed that there were Christian proselytisation activities of Muslims, without providing any concrete evidence.
"Pakatan should have taken action against Hasan a long time ago, but yet he still sits as a member of the Selangor government's state executive council.
"Why is Pakatan so reluctant to take action against a man who insults the religion of others?
"My only conclusion is that PAS holds the real power in Pakatan Rakyat and that DAP and PKR are too afraid to take any action as they are afraid of reprisals from PAS," he said.
Wong warned that Hasan would use Christian proselytisation activities as an excuse to implement hudud law in the future.
‘Hasan should ban Internet, too'
In a written reply to the state legislative assembly yesterday, Hasan said the state religious authorities have identified eight methods in which Christian evangelists are spreading their religion among Muslims.
One method involved the use of a solar-powered device which would read out the Bible.
Wong said Hasan's statement was irresponsible and thoughtless to both Muslims and Christians.
"His latest rattling against Christians only shows his contempt for people of a different faiths and will aggravate relationships between Muslims and Christians.
"Since he is against modernity and technology progress, why doesn't he take one step further and suggest banning the Internet as many sites on Christian teachings and sayings, as well as the teachings of other religions being easily accessible to anyone," he said.
