Malays okay with 'humble' Guan Eng, but not DAP

And it seems like they've succeeded to certain extent. The Malays are a simple people. They have been subjected to a lot of mind-numbing propaganda to the extent that they cannot think objectively.

Just look at what they're watching everyday on TV - Raja Lawak, soggy dramas, talent contests, etc, all of which numb their minds to the point that they cannot be objective anymore.

Before people come and bash me for being anti-Malay, please know that I am also a Malay.

This type of mentality is the making of Umno. No amount of education can change such mindset. That is probably why we are behind Singapore in almost everything.

Quigonbond: It annoys me to think that Penang Malays are so easily swayed by mainstream media propaganda about Chinese chauvinism in the Penang administration; and they consider Perkasa as the Malay champion.

I was under the impression that Penangites are more urbanised and could at least tell the wood from the trees.

It makes me think that either the questions asked in this survey aren't right, or the statistics have been massaged.

In the end, if that's the way Malaysians think, then they deserve to get the government that will lead Malaysia to bankruptcy and they have no one to blame but themselves.

Loyal Malaysian: The fact that the survey were carried out in Umno constituencies plus Bayan Baru, no doubt gives it a slant.

But given the racist stance adopted by Utusan Malaysia, I do not doubt that more Malays have now returned to the Umno fold.

Yet, as one hoping for change, I can only pray enough Penangites will see beyond the racial elements and look at what the Pakatan Rakyat administration is doing now and return it to power.

Pakatan's sterling performance in the 308 tsunami may not be repeated here, but if Pakatan loses control even in Penang, granted its good track record thus far, I fear to think what will happen to Pakatan elsewhere.

Swipenter: DAP and the Chinese community have been demonised by Umno for the past four decades. Even MCA is not spared whenever it suits Umno's political agenda.

This is what racial politics and ‘ketuanan Melayu' doctrine is all about - divide and rule. Hence the great racial and religious divide we see in the country.

Umno is constantly perpetuating the insecurity and fears of the Malays losing political power and their special rights and NEP goodies by inventing an external enemy (read: Chinese) for them and they have done a great job.

The emergence of a two-party system after GE12 is a big threat to Umno's divide-and-rule strategies and tactics. Pakatan's constant exposure of corruption, cronyism, nepotism, abuse and misuse of power by Umno is scoring well with the moderate, educated and urban Malays.

Now the target is to open the eyes and minds of the rural Malays. Not everything is lost. The Malays find it "okay with 'humble' Guan Eng." Does it mean a subtle change in the minds of the Malays?

Disgusted: Umno has succeeded in galvanising Malay thinking into being dependent on them for livelihood and protection with their condesending ways of making Malays believe that only they can ensure that they will be successful because of their handouts and patronage.

The ordinary Malays are in return kept in the dark as what Umnoputras are getting and enjoying at their expense, even to the point of diluting the Malay race with foreigners from Indonesia, Philippines, Pakistan and Bangladesh in order to ensure that if, Malays should receive some enlightenment and change sides then, they can depend on these newly-minted citizens/bumiputeras to offset the loss of support.

So wake up and see the real truth behind Umno's charade of wanting to protect Malays - it is not really to protect them but for the self-preservation of Umno leadership of the country so that they may continue with their corrupt ways and exploit the nation to the fullest.

Beware the trap of racism created by Umno.

Malayasian: The day Malaysia will be a 'dragon' will be when everyone can say they are Malaysians and that their race is of secondary importance. Nation building is about moving away from race.


Nazri denies scheduling meetings with GLCs

Santhos Perry: Why is Minister in the PM's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz interfering? This is a matter to be left for the various GLCs (government-linked companies) which are suing former MAS chief executive Tajudin Ramli for the monies owed to them.

I have a strong feeling that somehow Umno is very involved and that they fear that Tajudin will reveal all 'if' there is no settlement by the Malaysian government to save his neck.

Can we know from Tajudin how much he gave Umno from the MAS takeover deal? Was it RM200 million or RM250 million?

Of course, the majority of the rakyat knows that many BN politicians were involved in the plundering of MAS. Many names will be exposed if this goes to court.

MAS lost billions during Tajudin's reign in MAS. The huge losses (more like the plundering) left MAS in a hole so deep that up to today it is unable to recover from it.
