AirAsia's chief executive Tony Fernandes has hit out at the MPs who launched a tirade against him yesterday, saying they are barking up the wrong tree.

In a posting on micro-blogging site Twitter this morning, he asked why these members of parliament were not questioning the costs at airports or fighting for lower taxes for the rakyat.

NONEYesterday, several BN MPs launched a broadside against Fernandes over the AirAsia-MAS share swap deal, accusing him of cheating the national airline and with one of them even calling Fernandes a "thief".

Acknowledging the attacks, Fernandes said all AirAsia had done was to fight to make flying cheaper for the ordinary person.

"Four MPs have criticised me. Made it very personal for five years. One MP said I rape poor villagers. Villagers could never fly before," he posted on Twitter.

"We have worked so hard to make flying affordable and 130 million people have flown due to us."

Fernandes had earlier today called off a scheduled press conference on airport taxes.

However, he posted a series of rants against the charges imposed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd and the Low-cost Carrier Terminal.
