Subramaniam may be moved to normal ward

The former MIC deputy president is expected to be discharged from ICU soon.
Former MIC deputy president S Subramaniam who underwent brain surgery is expected to be discharged from the intensive care unit of the Pantai Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur in three or four days.
His former secretary and close friend R Balakrishnan said if Subramaniam's health improved, the doctors would allow him to be transferred from the to a normal ward.
"They have confirmed that he (Subramaniam) is still unconscious, but his condition is stable and he's able to breath on his own, without ventilator support," Balakrishnan said when contacted today.
He said the veteran MIC leader's friends as well as MIC members, politicians and community leaders continued to visit him although he was still unconscious.
Subramaniam, a former deputy minister, had a five-hour brain surgery that lasted until 2am yesterday.
He had warded himself at the Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya on Friday night after encountering health problems and was transferred to Pantai Medical Centre the following morning.
