Brutality victims start petition against cops
Satu Malaysian: This has been, and will be, the trend not only in the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) but in other aspects of Umno-BN governance so long as the Indians are not united as one community under one banner.
MIC as well as the other components parties that cater to the Indians masses is of little use to the Indians. All of these so-called leaders are there for their own perks and benefits.
Ministership for G Palanivel or senatorship for KS Nallakarupan has little to do with the plight of the poor Indians or their being at the mercy of the arrogant, racist and patronising authorities.
Splashing RM30 million in Little India is not going to elevate the position or plight of these people. The poor Indians are courted by these leaders merely for their votes and all they can expect in return is some crumbs by way of meagre provisions and cash at election time.
At the moment the Indians are spread among MIC, Gerakan, PPP, MUIP, Makkal Sakti Party, PKR, DAP, HRP, PSM and other parties. So how on earth are they expecting justice in the extremely race-based boiling pot of Malaysian politics?
I hope our so-called Indian leaders who are masquerading as ministers and senators representing the Indian community can give us some answers as to how the Indian poor can be treated with some justice, and not be beaten up and end up at the losing end.
Lets Be Fair: It's atrocious to know that the police are also racists. What about their job of keeping the public peace that is entrusted on them?
And please don't say that a 'few bad apples in the basket' are causing this. It seems like there is the message from the top to instill fear.
Let's all be an Arjuna and fight for the righteous, not only for this case but also to prevent the disease from spreading to the whole country.
Akucina: The cops have no rights to detain these kids. Human Rights Party (HRP), don't let up on this case. Pursue to the end. We support you all the way, both morally and financially.
Fairnessforall: This is disgusting. In the first place, why did the Malays attack the Indians? Was it a racial thing? Only 100 signatures is all that HRP could come up with? What happened to all their support?
In fact, this is not a case of supporting HRP but a fight against injustice and police brutality. The police should stop being racist and look into this matter immediately.
Democrat: Where are the Pakatan Rakyat MPs who won all the Kuala Lumpur seats in the elections? I guess the Indian votes are too few for them to pay attention to.
Justice Seeker: HRP representative S Thiagarajan, you said, "Why are they so cruel to the Indians? This is not the first time. The police brutality will never end."
But ironically the Indians keep on supporting this brutal BN government. Since they are staunch supporters of BN, then they will have to face the consequences.
Why didn't you approach MIC, which is a coalition member of BN to speak on your behalf? You know very well the police action against the Indians have never been questioned by the BN government, but you keep on voting for them just for the ‘samsu', some clothes, some food and a bit of money.
As long as the Indians have this mentality, expect to be thrashed by the police.
Gerakan backs overseas voting
Louis: Do you trust Gerakan? It is not sincere in its decision. After seeing the massive protests against MCA's stand, Gerakan would be digging itself a deeper grave if it concurs with the former.
Anonimous Z: A majority of the Gerakan party, with exception of few corrupt leaders, are basically reasonable people with righteous minds.
They are unlike MCA who are greedy, corrupt, blind, power crazy with totally no principles or virtues and who are even prepared to trade their wives and children's future for the small carrots hanging in front of them by the Umnoputras.
Maybe it is time for the misled good men and women in Gerakan to abandon the evil BN to join in the fast-growing people's uprising to topple the regime to help rebuild this dilapidated nation ruined by Umno.
Anonimous Z: In general, the main characteristic of the majority of the MCA grassroot leaders and top leaders are power crazy, greedy, cunning, opportunistic, aggressive, corrupted, thick skin, lacking of good principle, virtues and righteousness.
Some have connections to the underworld. They share these ugly characteristics with the Umnoputras.
Whereas, in contrast, the Gerakan leaders are more moderate, righteous, sincere, deemed more professional and scholarly like and learned, and not as extreme as the MCA leaders. And they still retain certain level of conscience, credibility and morality.
Jeremy Tanz: I have many friends in MCA and Gerakan (also Umno, PKR and DAP for that matter), and I hate to say that I have to agree with Malaysiakini commentators on the main difference between MCA and Gerakan.
Gerakan members (with the exception of a few leaders) are still principle minded but sadly unable to call the shots (hence of no use to the rakyat), while many MCA members are positioned in such a way to yield influence, but unfortunately have self-interest over that of the rakyat's (hence of no use to the rakyat, too).
Shabaruddin: Tomorrow, after a phone call from Umno, Gerakan will change its tune.
Anonymous: This ‘closed shop' party make the statement because they have no more support from overseas or locally. So there is no harm in them hurting MCA chief Dr Chua Soi Lek's feelings.
Tkc: One swallow does not make a summer. But for Gerakan, this is a step in the right direction. Hopefully it is not one step forward today and three steps back tomorrow.
