vox populi small thumbnailSenior Citizen: From what I see, this expose by Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar is indeed shocking to the core.

The Umno-BN is saturated with corruption of the worst kind. What is the point of having elections? It is an utter waste of time.

May I call upon the Bar Council or any NGO to immediately go to the courts and secure an injunction against the PM and the government from conducting elections till all the rot has been cleaned up to allow a free and fair election.

Shimbam: Let's not discount the fact that previously these police officers, like many other Malaysians, didn't bother to register previously.

But with the slurs and outright hatred and condemnation shown to them by Pakatan Rakyat - for example, Mat Sabu-Bukit Kepong case and the whole Bersih circus - no wonder the police are registering in droves.

They are citizens too, and they have every right to vote like any other Malaysian citizens.

Armageddon: Is postal voting done fairly?

1. Is the voting done by the individual and witnessed by competing parties?

2. Is the ballot paper numbered and recorded against the individual?

3. If the individual, can't vote, will the senior officer vote on his behalf?

The answers have to be ‘yes, no, no' to the above questions. We can't eliminate postal votes, and we can't stop people shifting constituencies and we also can't stop Indonesians being Malaysianised, but at least give Pakatan a chance to win some of these postal votes.

I am not sure to whom I am addressing this concern, of course not to the EC (Election Commission) because we can't trust them at all.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: The voters in Lembah Pantai must come out in large numbers - no less than 85 percent turnout - to ensure that Nurul wins in the face of these ‘fake' postal voters from the police being put there to defeat her.

The BN candidate is going to be either Raja Nong Chik - a master at political manipulation - and the equally vile Shahrizat Abdul Jalil with her questionable integrity and credibility. Both must be put out to pasture.

Ferdtan: The EC (Election Commission) has stopped working since PSC (parliamentary select committee) was formed.

No statements or any announcements from them lately. There was no public engagement with the rakyat. Have they relinquished their power and authority to the parliamentary committee?

If they can't do a proper job then the EC chief should step down. As warned, if GE is called before meaningful reforms are implemented, Bersih 3.0 should take the street again.

Time for 'tokenism' long over, says Nor Mohamed

I am glad you have come up with this statement for I think you know our universities are churning out graduates who wants high pay but cannot even string a proper sentence in English.

I think any employee worth his salt will not take a token appointment.

Onyourtoes: Nor Mohamed, this is an archaic old paradigm which is repeated ad nauseam already. Private firms are profit and efficiency orientated, so it is difficult to imagine they would take someone less efficient simply because of the colour of his skin.

It is the government that is discriminating to the core. The government does not need to be efficient and so they can employ as many useless people as they can, so long as it is of the right type.

May be election is coming; you need to make some racist remarks just to wake your electorates up. What tokenism, Nor Mohamad? How do you explain even Malay firms are employing a large number of non-Malays in their workforce.

Wfworker: If the cronies of Umno did not swindle the nation, many more good Malays would have gotten the chance to become better businessmen.

Nor Mohamed, can you just inform us, how many billions have been thrown down the drain to support the projects that never was? If all the cash given freely to you and your ilk is kept just to earn interests, today's issues would not arise in the first place.

With Petronas billions, you still can't make it and you blame the genuine businessmen who sweated and even mortaged their grandparents to keep their businesses going, and now you declared that they must be fair and appoint someone else as the CEO?

Nik V: Petronas is another ‘Ali Baba' corporation which makes money from global oil and gas companies such as Exxon by allowing them to extract oil while paying royalties.

Private companies are capitalistic and will always hire the best person and not because he is bumiputera or non-bumiputera.

Many Malaysians believe it is time to end ‘tokenism' too. So let the government lead by example by putting highly qualified non-bumiputeras as managing directors and CEOs in government.

By the way, while we are at it, let us remove the term bumiputeras and non-bumiputeras to end this divide and just fill all top positions with the best people.

Quigonbond: If they are really productive, who doesn't want a bumi equal partner? Unfortunately, those are far and few in between.

The rest are just Umno sycophants, and Nor Mohamed is probably just speaking out because it's time to curry favour within Umno to land himself an MP seat in the coming elections.
