Najib Abdul Razak's Twitter feed on Sunday that he had just completed the haj while there were still remaining rituals has been misinterpreted, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom.

Brushing aside a suggestion that the prime minister and his wife Rosmah Mansor and several other dignitaries did not complete the haj, Jamil Khir said as the guests of the Saudi government, the prime minister and his entourage had carried out all the rites and rituals of the haj.

NONESpeaking to reporters upon arrival from the holy land at the KL international airport, Jamil Khir said the prime minister and his entourage were well-guarded while performing the haj pilgrimage.

"What was actually meant (in the prime minister's Twitter) was that he had just finished wukuf (the grand assembly on the Arafah plain), not the haj.

"Wukuf was from Zohor until Maghrib on Zulhijjah 9.

"PM completed the haj pilgrimage. To have the haj we must go to Arafah. If we are not present in Arafah, there is no haj.

"Perhaps the question was asked in the evening as wukuf had been performed. The haj has not finished yet then," he added.
