October industrial output rose 11.3 percent compared with a year ago and was up 4.9 percent from September, the Statistics Department said today.

According to previously published figures, September industrial output was up 9.7 percent on the year and and 3.2 percent on the month.

In October, manufacturing sector output grew 14.6 percent from a year earlier, electricity output was up 4.9 percent while mining fell 1.5 percent, it said.

The month-on-month increase in October industrial output was due to a 4.4 percent rise in manufacturing while there was a 3.2 percent rise in electricity and 5.4 percent increase in mining, it said.

For the 10 months to October, the Statistics Department said industrial output was up 8.5 percent from a year ago, supported by growth in all sectors.

The Statistics Department did not offer any commentary on the October figures. - AFP
