Anwar: Audit shows transformation plans failed

He added that although Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak made promises to tackle irregularities, weaknesses and leakages, it was clear that these promises could not be kept.
"The Auditor-General Report 2010 has proven the failures of the transformation policies which were planned by the prime minister," claimed Anwar in a statement yesterday.
He said that in contrast, Pakatan Rakyat has laid forth its complete plan for change and comprehensive systemic reforms.
Such reforms would require strong political will.
"Without commitment, effort and public participation to build up this country, whatever clever plans or policies will end up in failure," he said.
Was the delay part of conspiracy?
In what is now an annual affair, the Auditor-General's report had revealed cases of mismanagement of public funds, cost overruns for projects and over-priced government procurement among others.
The Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will be probing four ministries and three government agencies soon based on irregularities listed in the report.
Meanwhile, Anwar also claimed that there may be a conspiracy behind the 17-day delay in the release of the Auditor-General's Report.
Anwar, the Dewan Rakyat opposition leader and former finance minister, said the report should be released alongside other budget-related documents on Budget Day, Oct 7.
He argued that this had been the normal process and Pakatan MPs have raised the matter repeatedly but to no avail.
"This delay should not happen, unless there is a conspiracy to hide certain facts from the public," he said.
