Two more sites for national type (Chinese) schools (SJKC) have been approved in Kajang to cater for the needs of the increasing local residents.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the education minister, said the sites measuring five acres (about two hectares) each were located in Kajang Utama and Sungai Long.

He also approved an allocation of RM3.5 million for the construction of two new blocks for SJKC Sungai Chua, Kajang, to accommodate the increasing number of students.

"This shows that the Barisan Nasional (BN) is determined in matters concerning the development of education. We want our children to succeed regardless of race," he said in his speech during a visit to the SJKC Sungai Chua today.

Also present were his wife, Noorainee Abdul Rahman, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar, who is also Selangor BN deputy chairman, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek, and Deputy Finance Minister Donald Lim Siang Chai, who is also Selangor MCA chairman.

At a press conference later, Dr Chua said the government would also give an allocation of RM4.5 million each to build the two schools.

“This means that the government will provide the land and allocation to build the two schools in the rapidly growing area and construction work is expected to begin shortly," he said.

At the function, Muhyiddin also gave away contributions to senior citizens and orphans in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration soon.
