Thirty-five PAS members of the Kampung Baru Lembah branch in Padang Sanai in Kuala Nerang quit the party to join Umno.

Padang Terap Umno Division's deputy head Ghazali Ibrahim said 65 new applications were received to join Umno in Kampung Baru Padang Chendering, Padang Sanai, including 35 former PAS members.

Ghazali said the decision to quit showed that members were losing confidence in the party's struggle to safeguard their welfare.

"This is not the first time we have heard of PAS members joining Umno," he said.

He added that among the grouses raised by the PAS members was that the party had not fulfilled their expectations and promises.
