The term of the current parliament ends on April 24, 2013, according to the Elections Commission (EC).

EC deputy secretary Noordin Che Ngah said parliament will dissolve automatically on that date unless, of course, it is dissolved earlier.
"The date of dissolution of parliament depends on the prime minister. However, if it is not dissolved by April 24, 2013, it will dissolve automatically on that date," he said at a state-level briefing at the National Agribusiness Terminal (Teman), Kota Bharu.
Also present were International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed, Defence Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Dr Jamil Khir Baharom and Deputy Finance Minister Dr Awang Adek Hussin.
Some 15,000 civil servants and the public attended the programme.
Awaiting Fatwa Council's response
Noordin said that after that date, the EC would proceed to hold the 13th general election within 60 days.
Commenting on the proposed use of indelible ink in the voting process to prevent election fraud, he said the EC was still weighing its advantages and disadvantages and awaiting a decision of the National Fatwa (Edict) Council on its use.
He also said that the EC is not empowered to transfer voters from one parliamentary constituency to another unless it was requested by the voters.
