Utusan Melayu employees will be paid 36 months of arrears under a  collective agreement just concluded between Utusan management and the National Union of Journalists Malaysia (NUJ).

According to the  agreement, effective from August in 2008 to July 2011, each employee is expected to get between RM5,000 and RM15,000 in arrears, NUJ general-secretary V Anbalagan said in a statement today.

The employees would also get a nine percent salary hike and transport allowance of RM630 a month those with cars, and RM580 for those without, he added.
