FairPlay: As a high-profile career politician, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng should do well to remember the line between a private comment and an official comment is so often blurred and easily twisted to fit the occasion.

Onyourtoes: Lim, just explain the context in which the observation was made and move on. There is no need to say whether the observation was made in private or public.

It is inconsequential. In fact, saying that it is a fair comment given the actual situation, would be more palatable. Pakatan Rakyat will not lose support in Johor if you admit the comments you made.

AkuMelayu: I felt really sorry for Lim for allowing his pride and ego to take the better of him.

He could have relied on his wisdom and turned this to his advantage by admitting and apologising, and at the same time projecting what a responsible leader he is to his supporters. Sorry seems to be the hardest word for him.

Abasir: Prime Minister Najib Razak's well publicised NKRA (National Key Result Areas) which includes security, is a loud acknowledgment that the country is not safe.

Shouldn't he be reprimanded for publicly denigrating the country as a whole for implying that our police force is incompetent?

Kit P: Lim, you should know that when you are chief minister of a state which BN desperately wants to take back by hook or by crook, there is no such thing as a private conversation in any sort of public function.

Anything you say can and will be used against you - even things you didn't say. A reporter leaving a mini-sound or video recorder running even as they leave the room is one of the oldest tricks in the business.

A few days ago, Muhyiddin said Selangor was suffering from "torture" under the current Pakatan government.

Well, isn't that also considered as undermining and painting the Selangor state as an unsuitable investment destination? Oh, the hypocrisy.

Durian: MCA, Gerakan, MIC and others pretend to go crazy and start screaming when the hypothetical hudud is discussed. When a real life body-snatching happens, there's not a squeak from them.

Paul Warren: There is no problem bridging the two legal systems. As long as Umno proposes it, MCA, MIC and Gerakan will be the first to support it. So my advice to Umno is to amend the laws.

How can a person convert but still practice another religion and have so many people testifying to it?

The government must make it a law to have converts inform their family members of their conversion and have a member of the family as a witness.

Don't believe something just because somebody said so. Believe because you have studied and weighed the facts and consequences.

Perkasa moots committee on detention without trial

Honest: What is interesting is not what Perkasa says, for it is just like listening to five-foot-way troublemakers. But what is alarming is the respect the home minister has for them, however stupid their proposals may appear.

Onyourtoes: A high-power committee to decide "there and then" whether a person should be deprived of his liberty.

This committee is to make the decision based on what? Based whether or not the person to be detained is a Perkasa member or Bersih member?

And who shall constitute the members of this committee? Who shall decide the membership of this committee - the home affairs minister?

So if the home affairs minister decides to detain you, he then asks the committee appointed by him to decide whether or not you should be locked up indefinitely. Sounds good.


Court to hear Najib-Rosmah application on Monday

Teh: The fact that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Rahman and wife Rosmah will not go to court is a foregone conclusion.

What we are seeing now is the motion of just going through the process. Ask anyone on the street and they can give you the verdict now.

Simon Lee 3ed5: The end justifies the means. The whole world knows that this is just one of the many desperate attempts to harass the opposition, especially its leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is a real threat to Umno.

Yes, use the might of every corrupt institution to tar him, humiliate him, charge him, arrest him and lock him out at all cost to save the corrupt in Umno.

Anwar's team should just be resigned with the expected verdict, especially when every institution that is supposed to protect the rakyat has failed to uphold justice and allow the defence the right to subpoena the conspirators behind all these evil acts to crucify Anwar.
