Over 200 foreigners to be dropped from draft roll

The Election Commission has agreed to drop 220 non-citizens off the supplementary electoral roll draft for the Paya Jaras state constituency for the second quarter of 2011, said PAS.

According to Paya Jaras PAS election secretary Mohamad Fisal Mohamad Yusoff, the EC agreed to do so after a hearing on 222 names objected to by the local PAS division on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mohamad Fisal, who was present at the hearing in Shah Alam, said that only 30 of the 222 attended the hearing.
"Of them, 28 claimed that they never applied to be voters and had no idea that they were listed as voters," he said when contacted today.
He added that most of those who attended were either Cambodian or Indonesian.
Paya Jaras, held by Umno's Muhammad Bushro Mat Johor, is located in the Subang parliamentary constituency of PKR's R Sivarasa (left).
PAS had previously complained of many cases of permanent residents and temporary residents on the National Registration Department website, who have also been listed as voters.
Error upon errors found
In several cases, the NRD ran checks and found the database to be outdated and that these individuals have been granted citizenship.
This includes the case of Mismah, who was listed as a permanent resident but had in fact been granted citizenship in January this year after 29 years as a permanent resident.
Yusnati Haris Lakmana was also listed as a temporary resident (green IC holder) but NRD checks showed she had been granted citizenship in 2008.
Yesterday, the EC was reported to have also agreed to drop 52 'suspicious' names objected to by Shah Alam PAS.
PAS Johor Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat has also claimed that the EC had removed up to 10,000 voters with "fake MyKad" from the electoral roll over the past two months.
These voters, with the same names and holding MyKad with almost identical numbers, have been dubbed 'cloned voters'.
