The tiff between PAS and DAP over the issue of hudud law is just sandiwara (play acting) aimed at gaining Malay support for the Islamic party, says Perkasa.

The right wing pressure group's chief Ibrahim Ali said both opposition parties were indulging in a replay of their old quarrel, to ensure the Malays continued to support PAS.

“Karpal Singh’s retort is also in jest, to fool the Malays that DAP is quarrelling with PAS over the hudud issue.

“Their aim is to ensure the Malays will support PAS, and indeed PAS will definitely not contest where the majority are non-Malay,” Ibrahim said in a statement today.

“Nik Aziz’s statement is just a pretence, or a pre-arranged sandiwara, even a replay of an old song to gain the support of the Malays.

“It’s really just a PAS political gimmick,” he added.

The abrasive Pasir Mas MP said Nik Aziz was only trying to “show off his firm stand on the hudud law issue” in light of the coming general election.

Calling PAS a stooge of DAP, Ibrahim claimed that Nik Aziz and PAS’ top leadership “realise that PAS has no more political capital to unseat BN” in the coming GE.

"They (PAS) see that BN-Umno is getting stronger... they also desperately want to retain their rule over Kelantan," Ibrahim said.

This, he argued, was why the Islamic party started replaying the broken hudud law record.

However, Ibrahim said, the strategy would not work as most people, especially the youth, have long turned away from PAS for its 'betrayal' of the Malays by being DAP's mercenary - hired to destroy the unity of the Malays.

The Perkasa chief added that PAS' sudden outburst on hudud was obviously a ploy, since the party had remained silent throughout the many challenges to the dignity of the Malays and Islam in the last few years.
