The police will take the necessary action in connection with rumours that a group of people claiming to be of Perak of will be ‘invading’ Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar on Sunday, said Perak Menteri Besar Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

Speaking to reporters after opening an HSBS Amanah branch in Ipoh today, he said he was confident that the police would be able to handle the matter.

He was commenting on an SMS going around in the state that the group planned to hold

the march to the palace, which is the official residence of the Sultan of Perak, on Sunday.

According to the SMS, the group was to be led a certain Raja Ahmad Nasir who claimed that he was to be the rightful Sultan of Perak.

The branch was HSBC’s first bank in Perak to offer Islamic banking.
