Rail tracks between Sg Buloh and Rawang flooded

A heavy downpour late yesterday afternoon inundated the railway tracks at Km366.5 between the Sungai Buloh and Rawang stations and disrupted the ‘Komuter’ train services, Inter-City services, cargo and the electric train services (ETS).

A Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) statement today said that following the flood, all the services had to be rescheduled.
For the KTM Komuter service, the journey from Sungai Gadut to Rawang ended at the Sungai Buloh station and turned back to Sungai Gadut while passengers from Sungai Buloh to Rawang could continue their journey by bus which was provided.
Passengers wishing to travel to Kuang could take the train from Rawang to Kuang. However, the Port Klang to Batu Caves train service and the Rawang to Tanjung Malim service were not disrupted.
The statement said that among the Inter-City services that were interrupted and rescheduled were the ‘Ekspres Senandung Mutiara’ (No 23, Butterworth-Tanjung Malim), ‘Ekspres Sinaran Utara’ (No 10 Tanjung Malim-Butterworth) and ‘Ekspres Sinaran Utara’ (No 11 Butterworth-Tanjung Malim).
Also affected were the ‘Ekspres Senandung Mutiara’ (No 22 Tanjung Malim-Butterworth), ‘Perkhidmatan Ekspres Rakyat’ (No 2 Singapore- KL Sentral, Tanjung Malim-Butterworth), ‘Ekspres Rakyat’ (No 1 Butterworth-Tanjung Malim, KL Sentral-Singapore), ‘Ekspres Senandung Langkawi’ (No 21 Hat Yai-Ipoh), ‘Ekspres Senandung Langkawi’ (No 20 Ipoh-Hat Yai).
The ETS that were rescheduled were all ETS from Ipoh to KL Sentral or Seremban which was ended at Rawang, where all the passengers were transferred and ferried by buses to KL Sentral and vice-versa.
The statement said work to repair the affected railway tracks and structures were expected to be completed on Saturday morning.
