Tee Keat stands by 'Chinese marginalised' remarks

Tkc: Despite the grumbling, the reasons why the MCA clowns do not want to get off the gravy train are: (1) the leftover gravy is still very tasty, and (2) most of them have skeletons in their closet.

If they get off, the consequence could be extremely vicious and deadly.

By the way, MCA was given a huge cake topped with chocolate icing in PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone). What happened? Were the leftover crumbs thrown to the poor rakyat on the streets?

David Dass: I find it strange that OKT (former MCA chief Ong Tee Keat) says what he says when the MCA did nothing to improve the situation when he was in charge.

Why were the leaders of the Chinese, Indian and other non-Umno parties within the BN silent in the years when they were in the BN if they felt that their communities were being marginalised?

The expectation of their followers was that they would behind closed doors fight for their respective communities. Was that not happening? And if that was happening and if the response from Umno was negative, then why did they stand around watching their people being marginalised?

I cannot believe that Umno would simply ignore demands from their member parties for a just allocation of resources to each community if these demands were justified. Umno cannot afford the disintegration of the BN and so will have to be reasonable.

Swipenter: The Chinese community knows that they are being systematically marginalised step by step by Umno. OKT merely confirmed it with the US diplomats.

He has plenty of grassroots support and is the most vocal MCA senior politician of the sorry lot of MCA impotent leaders. That is the only reason he survived the 308 tsunami.

It has reached a point that Umno cannot frighten the Chinese community with threats of violence anymore and seeing that MCA (as well as Gerakan) is nothing but a running dog of Umno, they say that enough is enough and decided to throw their support behind PKR and kicked MCA in the butt.

Ghkok: Ong Tee Keat expresses his opinion clearly and succintly. So that's that. His expressions are also the same expressions of millions of Chinese in Malaysia.

However, the same millions of Chinese have been voting for BN for decades ... until 2008. Ask all the old uncles and aunties who they had voted for all these years.

Anyway, the past is the past. Those who voted for BN in the past, and those who don't even bother to vote, have therefore supported the one-party rule in this country for 54 years.

They have a chance to make amends and fulfill their duty to the country by ending the tyranny and cement a two-party system by voting for a Pakatan Rakyat government in the next GE.

Quigonbond: There is no denying how subservient MCA is to Umno. Even Hishammuddin Hussein has despicably said that he expected MCA to stand up against his keris-wielding antics because the government wouldn't allow things to get out of hand (actually making Hisham no different from a rapist who says that the girl in mini-skirt provoked him and she shouldn't have dressed that way) but MCA was afraid of saying too much, because they fear that whatever little that Umno could still give them will be taken away.

They fail to realise that voters put them into power, and voters can take their power and position away just as easily.

Apparently, after paying the price in 2008, they have decided to stick with politics of patronage instead of doing right by all Malaysians and not just a single race. They can be assured that the voters will reward them handsomely in the next general elections.

AnakBangsaMalaysia: While it is of some interest to see that Ong Tee Keat has at least had the integrity to stand by his remarks - unlike MCA chief Chua Soi Lek and deputy chief Liow Tiong Lai, who rapidly performed spectacularly acrobatic backflips when confronted with overwhelming evidence of the police assault on Tung Shin Hospital - the simple fact remains that if Ong really was a politician for the people, he would never have joined MCA.

The fact that he did join, actually admitted MCA's political eunuchship and yet still chooses to remain there today, tells us all we need to know of his prioritising of the people's interest vis-a-vis his own personal ambitions.

The people have had enough: the remnants of MCA and Gerakan will be thrown out in the coming GE - if the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

But we know the EC (Election Commission) and NRD (National Registration Department) are working overtime to manufacture 'instant' new voters as well as recycling 150-year-old expired ones, so the eunuchs might just survive a bit longer.

Wfworker: Let us draw a line; only those cronies of BN with a large majority of real Malays and a good portion of half-Malays have gained.

Many real Malays are drawn into this divide by reading only Berita Harian or Utusan Malaysia, and let us not put those who also wanted changes into this pot.

Yes, as far as I am concerned MCA should be buried as the majority of even the upcoming leaders are totally blind to all those issues that affect the nation; hence one can only conclude they have no other agenda except trying to get the crumbs; but it appears that crumbs in millions of ringgit are okay as Umno is only interested in figures in the billions.

Who Is That Masked Man?: The Chinese are marginalised. An Umno goon came with all the right connections to the top leaders and corruptly took away a legitimate business from my friend with the government (his company is now almost defunct).

Not only did one MCA deputy minister turn his back to my friend, in the next administration, another MCA minister actually collaborated with this Umno goon.

And on the subject of Singapore and Chinese schools. One: How will we achieve racial integration if more than 90 percent of the Chinese send their kids to Chinese schools. How will that foster good relations and help our children to understand our Muslim/Malay children better?

Two: Why does MCA keep silent on the fact that Singapore is stealing all our top Chinese school graduates with scholarship offers and thereby bonding them to their country for tens of years. Why do MCA or Gerakan not have the integrity to speak out?

Those are the values our forefathers have bequeath to us. Leave the BN, become an independent party, and once and for all have the dignity to right all the wrongs you have done for decades.

Which of you are true Chinese with the moral compass and character to stand up to people and be counted?

Dood: These MCA leaders are such clowns. When they were the top leaders, they were all as mute as mimes and happily kept the status quo and their party subservient to Umno/BN, even though they knew fully well what was going on and what would happen by them playing dumb.

But when they are no longer top MCA leaders, they suddenly find their voices and even have the nerve to tell the current leaders to be bold and to take decisive action to stem whatever ills they themselves already knew existed when they were the leaders themselves and could have done something, but didn't.

Kit P: The bottom line is that Tee Keat is just making a few throw away shots of little consequence. As long as he remains an MCA loyalist, he is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

"Working for reform from within" has become a tired and ineffectual phrase among MCA and Gerakan eunuchs.
