Three police officers were among six people detained by the police to assist investigations into the shooting of a college student at Taman Seri Rampai, Setapak.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah said the three police officers detained were from the rank of lance corporal and corporal.

"Two of the policemen were based in Bukit Aman while the other, at the Selangor police contingent headquarters," he told Bernama when contacted today.

During the 6am incident yesterday, the student in his 20s, was seriously injured when he was shot by one of the three men in front of a night club when the victim and his friends were attacked while entering their car.

Initial investigations revealed that the shooting incident was triggered by an incident in which the car of the assailants was graced by another car, revealed Ku.

Meanwhile, three others aged between 20 and 27 who were friends of the victim, had also been detained and remanded together with the three policemen to facilitate investigations.

Man shot dead while having meal with friends

In another development, a man was shot dead at a restaurant in Taman AST here while eating with a group of friends.

Negeri Sembilan CID chief ACP Hamdan Majid said the victim, P Vickneswaran, 33, from Rasah died on the spot after being shot four times from close range by unknown assailants during the 12.50am incident.

"The victim was a car repossessor. Three of his friends witnessed him being shot. One shot pierced through the victim's head and three others hit his body," he told reporters at the Negeri Sembilan police headquarters in Seremban today.

He added that one of the victim's friends who was also injured in his leg by a stray bullet during the incident, later received treatment at the Seremban Hospital.

The assailants fled the scene on a Honda EX5 motorcycle, believed to be the same motorcycle they had come to the scene.

Police who suspect the motive was revenge, are looking for two thin and tall suspects, he said.
