Traffic congestion has started to build up along the North-South Expressway in both directions, since today happens to be the last day of a long weekend that included three public holidays in a stretch, for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Merdeka Day.

Plus Control Centre staff member Juhaimi Harun said traffic along the expressway was moving slowly, particularly heading towards Kuala Lumpur.

Due to the increase in vehicles on the roads this evening, there was a bumper-to-bumper crawl on stretches from Changkat Jering to Terowong Menora; Alor Setar heading towards Juru and Simpang Pulai to Slim River, he told Bernama today.

Meanwhile, traffic from the south, namely from Ayer Keroh to Senawang and onwards to Seremban was also reported to be congested.

"No accidents have been reported so far," he said.
