Members who were taking a dip at the swimming pool of Sungai Ujong Recreation Club, ran helter-skelter after finding a four-metre-long python coiled at the bed of the swimming pool yesterday.

Club member Chong Kok Kiong, said during the 2.30pm incident, there were eight people, including children, swimming in the pool.

"A woman who dived into the pool spotted the python resting under the steel ladder of the swimming pool and quickly alerted the rest after climbing out of the pool," Chong, who was relaxing next to the pool, told Bernama.

The club management informed the Seremban Fire and Rescue Department which later sent four firemen to trap the snake.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman who confirmed the incident said the snake could have slipped into the pool from the nearby bushes to cool itself due to the prevailing hot weather.
