A tractor driver was today charged with three counts of murdering his children at Lambak/Elaeis Estate in Kluang.

The charge against R Munesuaran, 29, was read out to him at Ward Melor 4 of the Kluang district hospital, where he was being treated.

On the first count, Munesuaran is charged with murdering his five-year-old daughter M Nivyatharshini at a pond in the estate between 6.30pm and 7.30pm last Aug 22.

On the second and third counts, he is charged with murdering his three-year-old daughter M Renisha and son, two-year-old M Thevanesh, respectively, at the same place, time and date.

All the charges are made under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death sentence upon conviction.

Munesuaran, who was unrepresented, nodded his head when the charges were read out to him in Malay.

However, no plea was recorded.

Magistrate Norhabsarina Ayob then set Oct 18 for mention.
