Home minister receives death threat, live bullets

People Power: Hishammuddin Hussein, forget about sympathy from the rakyat. When PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar reported about the threats to kidnap her daughter, you as home minister claimed that she was fishing for sympathy instead of doing your job to help her.

Anonymous_5fb: Hisham, whether I like you or not (in fact I don't) will not prevent me to voice my sympathy and condemn the act.

Perhaps you should reflect on your past deeds like the many cases of death in custody in the police force, which is under your control.

But I am curious why an envelope containing live bullets can penetrate the tight security of your office. I can understand why Pakatan Rakyat politicians received live bullets through the mail, but not your case, as the police are at your disposal.

I am not saying yours looks like a 'wayang' (show), but I hope you will give as much priority to investigating the death threat cases of your political opponents as all lives are equally precious, not just those from Umno.

Trublumalaysian: Umno is now digging the bottom of the barrel as their long-utilised SOP (standard operating procedure) of racial divide is crumbling before them.

Knives and daggers are now drawn amongst their own kind. Let's all help them by voting them out.

Gandhi: Hisham is a polarising figure. The cow-head incident is one solid example when he had no sympathy for people of other religions. The image of him having tea with the cow-head protesters has been etched in the minds of peace-loving Malaysians.

Patriot: What goes around, comes around. I cannot find an iota of sympathy for you in my heart.

AkuMelayu: Where are the people who cried foul when Pakatan leaders Karpal Singh and Tony Pua get bullets and death threats? Their silence speaks louder of their hypocrisy.

I can spot some of them here among the commentators but singing a different tune and condoning this despicable act.

Kleo: No one deserves to have his life threatened. Let's not make ourselves sound like the Umno cybertroopers who mock and jeer whenever Pakatan MPs receive bullets in the mail or having their HQs splashed with paint or Molotov cocktails being thrown into their porches.

If you ask me, from what little information we have, I would say it could be from some overzealous supporter in ex-Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo's camp.

Khir Toyo has issued a warning two days ago to "three ministers" who he claimed are bent on putting him in jail.

Which minister wields the power of the police/judiciary? Hishammuddin sounds like a pretty good candidate to me.

Anonymous: I think it's not right to threaten and send live bullets to anyone whether that person is an opposition MP or the home minister.

However, it would be very interesting to see whether the police will drag their feet like they usually do in solving crimes against the opposition or whether they will move fast on this case.

David Dass: There should be zero tolerance for violence and threats of violence. These cowards who send bullets to intimidate should be apprehended and punished.

We must make the point that we are not that kind of society. We are a democracy. And political disagreements should be settled in Parliament or at the ballot box. Other disagreements should be settled in our courts.

Our courts are constitutionally independent and our judges well equipped to adjudicate on such disputes. There is no room for vigilante justice and no one should take the law into his own hands.

We should encourage public discourse. And discourage violence as a way of settling private disputes. A minister should not be subject to such threats.

Anonymous_4040: I find it appalling that some amongst us would applaud this abominable act. We Malaysians should, and must, mature politically.

This threat, regardless of who is being targeted, must be unanimously condemned and admonished.

To praise this act of terror simply because the target is a member of the ruling government is childish. Think about it - those pro-government supporters would applaud a threat to a Pakatan politician, and now we have pro-opposition people doing likewise - when will it end?

Grow up for the sake of a better Malaysia. It's okay to be cynical, but this threat is disgusting no less.
