Former Batu Sapi member of Parliament (MP) Edmund Chong’s driver told the Coroner’s Court in Kota Kinabalu today that the late MP sent his motorcycles to two workshops for servicing and maintenance.

Ahad Bilu, 43, who worked for Chong for 14 years, said he knew Chong had five superbikes and his boss would ride his motorcycles to the workshops and he (Ahad) would fetch him.

“He sent his bikes to two workshops, one in Kolombong and the other in Likas. But he always went to the one in Likas.

“Datuk (Chong) loved his motorcycle collection and always took very good care of them,” he said at the inquest into the death of Chong.

Chong died in a road accident at Jalan Coastal Highway, between Sembulan and Tanjung Aru, on Oct 9 last year.

Earlier, Coroner Melissa Chia ordered the Mercedes Benz that was involved in the crash with Chong, and Chong’s motorcycle to be brought to court for inspection.

In the afternoon, the Mercedes Benz arrived at the court’s parking area and was inspected by Chia.

The plate registration number had changed, but the chassis and engine serial numbers and colour of the car remained the same.

Chia ordered the vehicle and the motorcycle to be returned to police custody.

The inquest was adjourned until Sept 12 to make way for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
