1M: My heart goes out to the victim, Wong Bee Fong - imagine the ordeal she had gone through that night and through the years that follow. We, the Malaysian public, are subject to all kinds of abuse from uniform personnel, ranging from harsh words to physical harm.

Kuduka: Although I sympathise with Bee Fong, I have to say this is a futile and fruitless fight since we are dealing with the police, and they have never been transparent.

If we are in another country, yes, we can get justice, but this is Malaysia we are talking about. Unless you have connections in high places, you won't see justice served in this country of ours.

B Win: Police bullying is getting out of control, even at routine traffic speed traps along the highways. Just last weak, I was driving my car from Penang to Ipoh and I was pulled over by traffic cops manning a speed trap.

The traffic cop asked for my IC and licence and told me that I was speeding. I then asked him to write me a summons and further asked him where I can buy the speed camera photo. Within seconds, he returned my IC and licence and told me I can go.

They are stopping vehicles based on car brand and cc. Though some vehicles are genuinely being stopped for speeding, a majority are for ‘cari makan'. If you are stopped, please insist for them to issue a summons and don't give them RM50. Pay the government, not these bullies.

Lets Be Fair: It's quite appalling that the report has been made seven years ago. The authorities should investigate and charge the police personnel if found behaving in an unwarranted manner so that public confidence in the police force can be restored.

Swipenter: The image of our police force is so bad that now they symbolise corruption and legalised thuggery. It may be unfair but that is the perception of the public in general.

Cala: The death of A Kugan and many Indians under police custody, the abuse of a Taman Tun Ismail framemaker by traffic police, and killing of many more innocent people at the slightest provocation points to a police force which has lost discipline.

But this phenomenon is totally expected. Former Asian Wall Street Journal editor Barry Wain has done a systematic study of our social economic institutions and concluded that the rot started during Dr Mahathir Mohamad's time.

In former MCA chief Ling Liong Sik's word, when a fish rots, it starts from the head.

But Rashid may tell you that the Batu 9 police station is short-handed and may ask you if you want to continue and press charges. I suggest you bring the press with you so that you can make a statement over the matter.


BN slammed for dragging military into politics

Jazz Singer: It was quite unbelievable to see the emotional ranting of the Army Forces chief General Zulkifeli Mohd Zin. An elegant silence or a diplomatic statement "we will look into it" would have done the trick to soothe the situation.

Zulkifeli has just shown that the Armed Forces is partisan. It has always been said that there is no bad soldiers, only bad officers. If these soldiers are considered traitors, it is because they followed orders.

Not all people will be loyal to the military at all times, but the army must always be loyal to us - the rakyat - and it should always be neutral.

Ksn: Now that the country knows where the Armed Forces chief General Zulkifeli Mohd Zin's loyalty is, isn't it time for the Agong, who gives the orders to the army, to demand the general's resignation? If anybody thinks otherwise, I wish to know the reasons.

Stanley O: The army have forgotten who their bosses are: the Agong and rakyat. They purposely forget it to keep BN in power for the sake of their material wealth.

Mohd: I am more likely to believe Umno members are traitors to the country. Not only do they insult the integrity of the country and sell citizenship to foreigners, but most importantly, they think they can short change Allah. Such a bunch of hypocrites.

Gen2indian: Judging from recent statements from the general, would it be possible that if the ‘unthinkable' happens in GE13, the armed forces can be relied upon to ‘restore order', in favour of Umno/BN of course?

Frightening thought, isn't it? DYMM Tuanku, please do not keep quiet. Your rakyat are being bullied into submission.

Lexicon: The Umno tactic of dragging in the Armed Forces into their petty self-serving politics is a not very subtle threat that the military may be forced out on the streets if Umno feels threatened. But will all soldiers follow orders to commit violence against fellow Malaysians?

Onyourtoes: In addition to joint crowd control exercise by the military and the police as noted by Mat Sabu, what about the proposal to form an Askar Wataniah (Territorial Army Regiment) in each parliamentary constituency? Why each parliamentary constituency?
