The nephew of the Sultan of Selangor withdrew his application at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today, for a committal order against his mother.

Justice Amelia Tee Hong Geok Abdullah allowed Putera Azamuddin Shah Abdul Shah's application to withdraw his earlier application for the committal order, without costs.

Putera Azamuddin Shah was represented by Rajan Navaratnam, and his mother Tengku Putri Arafiah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz by counsel Jabeer Singh.

Navaratnam told reporters that both parties agreed to settle the case amicably, but stopped short of revealing the terms which were agreed upon.

Last June 8, Putera Azamuddin Shah applied for a committal order to jail his mother for failing to sign and adhere to the sale and purchase agreement relating to shares in Sunshine Fleet Sdn Bhd, totaling RM2 million.

In his notice of motion, he said the court on April 19, had allowed his application for a specific implementation order to compel his mother to sign and abide by the sale and purchase terms within five days.

The prince claimed his mother had failed to do so and in the process, committed contempt of court.

In his affidavit-in-support, he said his mother had agreed to buy all 100,000 unit shares he owned in the company.
