Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said today he was not satisfied with the explanation given by The Star newspaper over the publication of ‘buka puasa’ (breaking of fast) articles together with stories of non-halal restaurants in a pullout segment.
He said in a statement today that the ministry had called up the group chief editor of Star Publications for an explanation over the article carried in the 'Dining Out' supplement with 'Ramadan Delights' as its cover headline.
Yesterday, the ministry’s deputy secretary-general (security) Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi, had summoned the paper’s group chief editor to point out the daily’s mistake, saying that it was an insensitive thing to do.
The newspaper admitted its mistake and offered to make an apology, which it did today.
