Shuhardi Mat Isa - accused of ‘acting’ as the man who had died during the July 9 Bersih 2.0 rally, Baharudin Ahmad - is expected to take several bloggers to court for defamation next week.  

Contacted today, Shuhardi, however, refused to disclose the names of the bloggers, disclosing only that his lawyers are presently accumulating evidence for the suit.

Shuhardi Md Isa“We are wating for the right time to file the suit,” said the entrepreneur, who was spotted at Jalan Pudu during the rally.

He added that the suit will name “two or three” bloggers who are “ill-intentioned” and “pro-government” as defendants.  

Shuhardi, who is also the Muslim Entrepreneurs, Consultants and Directors Association (Uroskop) secretary-general, said that the quantum of damages to be claimed has yet to be finalised.  

According to Shuhardi, the bloggers had “reversed” a video recording of him, when he had fainted at the rally, to make it look as if he had been “raised from the dead” and therefore “acting”.

He added that still images of the scene were also “manipulated” by the bloggers, who claimed that the photographs were of Baharudin, who had suffered a fatal heart attack on July 9.

Police had reportedly investigated the matter under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code which deals with statements conducing to public mischief and Section 233 of the Multimedia Act pertaining to improper use of network facilities.

The authorities had on Aug 2 had also recorded Shuhardi’s statement at his home at Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi.
