Shah Alam High Court Judge Akhtar Tahir also ordered the four accused, namely former lawyer N Pathmanabhan, 41, and farm workers T Thilaiyalagan, 20, R Matan, 21, and R Khatavarayan, 31, to be present during the visit.
They four were charged with murdering Sosilawati, 47; bank officer Noorhisham Mohamad, 38; lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32; and Sosilawati’s driver, Kamaruddin Shamsuddin, 44, at Lot 2001, Jalan Tanjong Layang, Tanjung Sepat, Banting, between 8.30pm and 9.45pm on Aug 30, 2010.
In today’s proceedings, Pathmanabhan’s lawyer, Manjeet Singh Dhillon, told the court that his client and Khatavarayan were not present in court today because they were sick and had been taken to hospital.
Deputy public prosecutor Ishak Mohd Yusoff also informed the court that the locations to be visited by the prosecution team were around Subang Jaya and Banting.
Meanwhile, during cross-examination, the prosecution’s 35th witness, Lance Corporal Salmi Putit, 35, did not agree with Matan’s lawyer Amer Hamzah Arshad’s suggestion that the parking lot where a dark-coloured BMW with registration number AAJ 5 was found was located near a shoplot.
Salmi, who is a member of Kuala Lumpur police’s crime scene investigation (CSI) team, also disagreed with Amer Hamzah’s suggestion that the numbered parking lot was part of a paid parking area.
During cross-examination by Manjeet Singh, Salmi said the parking lot in front of the Dorsett Hotel in Subang Jaya, where the car belonging to lawyer Ahmad Kamil was found, was a free parking lot.
When asked by Manjeet Singh how did he know that it was a free parking area, Salmi said he learned about it after asking a resident nearby.
Meanwhile, the prosecution’s 36th witness, Sgt Mohammed Dahlan Rasi, 50, told the court that upon arriving at a canal in Jalan Gelanggang Buaya, Kampung Kelanang, Banting at 5.45pm on Sept 14 last year, he saw marine police divers were already there.
When questioned by Manjeet Singh, Mohammed Dahalan also said that C/Insp N Govindan had also arrived in Jalan Gelanggang Buaya earlier than him.
‘Divers brought zinc sheeting out of canal’
He said when he arrived at the canal, the marine police divers had yet to find any zinc sheeting, which were part of the evidence in the trial.
However, about 10 minutes later, the divers started bringing zinc sheeting out of the canal, which were later wrapped in oil paper by members of CSI team from Kuala Lumpur and Bukit Aman police contingents, he said.
Mohammed Dahalan, however, agreed with Amer Hamzah’s suggestion that regular policemen could not do anything at the scene until the CSI team arrived.
He also agreed with Amer Hamzah’s suggestion that before the CSI team arrived at the scene, searching activities were already being mounted and this violated the investigation protocols.
